    Geschichte

    Das Weingut Benkovac wurde in den 1950er Jahren nach dem Vorbild südfranzösischer Chateaus erbaut. Bis zum Jahr 2005 wurden jedoch keine französischen oder internationalen Rebsorten auf dem Gelände angebaut. Das änderte sich, als Setzlinge von Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc und Mourvedre aus Frankreich gebracht und in die trockenen, steinigen Böden des Weinbergs Korlat gepflanzt wurden, der nur wenige Schritte von der Adria entfernt liegt. Auf einer Höhe von 300 Metern und mit wenig Niederschlag während des ganzen Jahres bringt der Weinberg Weine mit reichem, komplexem Geschmack und Aromen hervor.
