Geschichte

Das 1999 in der neuseeländischen Region Martinborough gegründete Weingut Escarpment ist berühmt für die hohe Qualität seiner Pinot Noir-Weine und insbesondere für seinen Flaggschiff-Wein Kupe, der als Maßstab für diese Sorte in Neuseeland gilt. Das Unternehmen produziert außerdem Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio und Riesling. Die Weinberge erstrecken sich über 24 Hektar östlich des Dorfes Martinborough auf kiesigen Böden, die typisch für die Martinborough Terrace sind, ein alluviales Schotterplateau.
